Sarah Bohl Photography Blog bio picture

Sarah Bohl Photography (the blog)

I laugh. A lot. A portrait session with me is fun, not stiff and formal. I love getting to know my clients, whether for a family shoot or a wedding. I find creativity in new places, and am inspired by so many things. I've teared up at every wedding I've shot, and I'm known to get pretty excited when I capture an amazing moment.

Sarah Bohl Photography is all about telling a story. The pictures I take become memories, stored to look back on whenever you choose. A framed photograph on the wall becomes a tale of growing up, of new ventures, or of starting a new life together. It's the story of where you were and what you hope for the future.

If you'd like me to photograph a special day for you and help tell YOUR story, feel free to contact me at sarah@sarahbohlphotography.com. Also be sure to check out my website, and be sure to visit my Facebook page!

Destiny…and letters to Santa

So my parents are re-carpeting their house, which means they want my brother and I to get the rest of our stuff out of there. I was going through some old papers with my mom - you know, report cards, school projects, growth charts, stuff like that, and I came across a bunch of my “letters to Santa.” That in itself was amusing (I made it VERY clear that I had been on the very best of behavior on several occasions, and in one letter it sounds like I have some crazy crush on St. Nick: “I’m sure that whatever you get me I will love.” Hahaha!) But then I found a letter FROM the Jolly Old Elf himself.

I was absolutely bowled over when I scanned over this letter. And when I realized that the  date made me only 2 years old, it just seemed all the more bizarre. Check it out:

I showed the letter to the parents. “This is just freaky!” I said.

My mom was convinced that the letter was really from 1996, not ‘86, but I pointed out that I was no longer an only child in 1996.

So, apparently, when I was 2 years old, I wanted a camera. :o)  I wish I would have known then that photography was what I should do…I would have loved to bypass all those stressful years in college (and a few after college) when I was trying to figure out what on earth I wanted to be “when I grew up”!

Oh, and P.S., I think referring to my dad as “moneybags” was supposed to be ironic. I find it quite humorous. :o)

I had to look up this camera, it sounded amazing. Google searching “101XS Minolta” came up with nothing, but I bet that this camera is pretty close, if not the one that Mr. Kringle was referring to:

Is it ironic that 23 years later I still really want a 70-200 zoom lens? :o)

Hope you all get some fun things from YOUR Christmas list this year!
